I am a U.S. Merchant Mariner who has set a goal of climbing the hawespipe to unlimited master. The pathway to master is a long and winding one. Please join me and follow along on my journey up through the ranks and other maritime related subjects along the way.
Looking forward to following your adventures!
Hey thanks for the visit and follow, you have a great blog here, good luck with the climb.
GREAT BLOG! Well done my friend. I would like to confab and hoist a pint sometime at the Scuttlebutt…I am a fellow NWern mariner myself
Really appreciate your RFPNW story. Its heartening and I was impressed by the trip to Fletcher to get the time reduced. I was always suspicious of those programs, but it sounds like it worked out for you. In the end, was it only 60 days you needed? Did you have prior time that you used too?
Anyhow, thanks for your blog. Its been helpful. And interesting!
60 days was all that was required by taking the Fletcher route. Must be on ship over 200 tons.
Hi BOM,
Nice to find your blog (found it through rigmovers blog). I’m also a hawsepiper. You don’t even want to know how long it took me. I hope you have an easier time then I did!
I see you’re on the Thompson, cool ship! I had a few good old friends who’ve worked on there. They all loved it.
It sounds like its still a way to be a sailor and go places. Not the way we do down here in the GOM. We don’t ever go anywhere but Fourchon, 😦
Thanks for the follow! Keep climbing! 🙂
Hi there!
I work at Oregon Public Broadcasting and we are waiting for Fennica to come into harbor for some repairs and I was hoping to see if we might be able to use one of your images of her for our news blog?
Thank you so much!
